I can't quit. It just isn't in my nature. There have been times in my past when I may have just given up, given in, and let go of all my hopes and dreams. Those days are long behind me now.
What am I not quitting? Great question! I'm glad you asked!
I'm not quitting working on my weight loss and plastic surgery goals!
I have an appointment with a weight loss doctor on February 27th, but I can't just drift that long. So, after much research (and help from my wonderful community here...thank you!) I have decided to try a new food plan with intermittent fasting and some heavy lifting sessions.
If you know me at all, I love food! All varieties of delicious and beautiful foods. I love to try new things. I travel on my stomach because I want to try all the crazy local things.
This food plan is all real food. I create everything from single ingredients rather than processed garbage. There are no magic pills, powders, or potions... just real, delicious food made with real ingredients.
I will also be adding in some intermittent fasting. If you aren't familiar with the term, it means that you eat and then stop for several hours, then eat again. For this plan I am trying, I am going to shoot for a 16:8. That means that I only have water or black coffee for 16 hours and eat food within an 8 hour window.
The plan I am trying includes two meals and two snacks, so I will be eating roughly every two hours of that 8 hour window.
Now for the training...
I did some serious research on what exercise is best for women in my age group and at my stage of life. I was NOT disappointed to find that the best exercise is weight and resistance training. Not just weight training, but Heavy Lifting! With the decline of estrogen, we tend to lose muscle mass and bone mass. Resistance and weight training work to counteract both of these problems. Also, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn...at rest! Bonus!!!
I would be lying if I told you that I was less than excited. It has been a long time since I did any really heavy lifting and I know that it makes me feel like Wonder Woman!
I have a gym setup in my basement and I prefer to lift in private. Being self-conscious has made we wary of phone cameras in the gym. However, I feel that my best bet for safety is to do this heavy lifting at the gym so that I will not be stranded alone in the basement if anything goes sideways...not that I am expecting to hurt myself, of course. ;) There is also the matter of form. I am planning on using the weight machines at the gym rather than free weights, at least to start. I know that when I am in the machine correctly, my form will also be correct and I will have less of a chance of injury.
I am excited to start this journey and will be doing so today.
Wish me luck!
I promise to keep you posted!
Much Love,
~Lady Misty
